What is the aim of AAL?
AAL systems (assistance systems) are designed to help older people or those in need of care to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible, in comfort and safety.
What does a smart night light do?
As soon as someone gets out of bed at night, the system creates a gentle trail of light leading up to the bathroom. This prevents glare, helps with orientation and helps to prevent dangerous falls.
Does the hob switch off if you forget to turn it off?
The system can detect whether the hob is switched on but nobody has been in the kitchen for some time, or whether there is an unusual build-up of heat or smoke. In this case, the hob is automatically switched off.
How are relatives or care services notified in an emergency?
Via portable emergency call buttons (e.g. worn as a wristband) or discreet fall sensors embedded in the floor, the system immediately sends an automated alert (phone call, text message) to pre-defined contacts.
